  1. Major Duties and Responsibilities
Under andadministrative supervision of Director of the duty station and functionalsupervision of the Director of Programing Budgeting, Accounting and Finance,you shall carry out the following tasks:
 
       i.    Manage a completefinancial function of the Mission which would include a number of different anddiverse operations and inter-related accounts of the financial system;
 
     ii.    Process and verify allbank payment and ensure that the accompanying supporting documents are completeand accurate;
 
    iii.    Process monthlypayroll and related staff emoluments;
 
    iv.    Keep and updatefinancial records of the office;
 
     v.    Maintain updatedPersonnel data (staff contract, leave management, up-to-date personnelinformation…)
 
    vi.    Maintain up to datefiles for service providers/contracts;
 
   vii.    Journalize monthlyexchange difference and bank charges on the various payments effected throughForeign and Local bank accounts of the Mission;
 
 viii.    Adjust the local bankbalance at the end of each month;
 
    ix.    Prepare bankreconciliation;
 
     x.    Draft variouscorrespondence related to financial and Administration matters and submit to yoursupervisor;
 
    xi.    Plan, coordinate, andsupervise the work of the General Service Staff
 
   xii.    Prepare financialstatements to be audited;
 
 xiii.    Prepare FinancialReports for consideration of the AU Headquarters and Donors as well as thecertification of general expenditures;
 
 xiv.    Ensure that accurateand complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioningand that all relevant records are maintained accurately;
 
   xv.    Provide advice onfinancial and Administrative policies, their application and related proceduresfor the office in accordance with the Financial rules and regulations, Staffrules and Regulation and various circulars.
 
 xvi.    Provide advice andcorrective actions in response to audits and other queries to ensure adherenceto the Organization’s Financial Rules and Regulations, Staff Rules as well asadministrative instructions and circulars;
 
 xvii.   Performany other financial and administrative related duties as may be assigned bysupervisors.
 
 
  1. Qualifications and Work Experience Required:
Academic Qualification
·        AUniversity Bachelor  Degree in Accountingor Business Management
·        Candidates must have atleast 5 years of progressive work experience
Professional Qualification of ACCA, SIMA or CPA is an advantage
 
Knowledge, skills and abilities
·        Excellentinterpersonal skills and ability to organize and motivate others and to work ina multicultural environment. Previous internationalexperience is an advantage
·        Excellentcomputer skills; Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, etc ;Work experience in accounting packages is an advantage
·        Good skills inplanning and organization
·        Good negotiationskills, good communication and presentation skills

4.    Language:
Knowledge of two  African Union languages is required withproficiency in either English or French. For the Cairo office proficiency inArabic is an advantage, for the Yaoundé office proficiency in French isadvantageous, for the Malawi & Abuja offices proficiency in English is anadvantage.
  1. Tenure of Appointment
The appointment will be madeon a fixed term contract for a period of three  years, of which the first year  will be considered as a probationary period.

  1. Remuneration
The salary attached to the position is annual salary ofUS$ 29,287 (P2 Step1)  plus housingallowance of 14,414.20 (for Malawi), 17,222.40 (for Yaoundé & Cairo),21,196.80 for Abuja office. Post adjustment of 44% of salary for Malawi, 48%for Cairo & Yaoundé, 57% for Abuja office. Staff are also entitled toeducation allowance of 75% of school fees upto 7,800 per child upto 4 children.
